Office of the
Lady Edelgard of Cynnabar

Welcome to the Chronicler's Page for the Barony of Cynnabar!  The Chronicler observes and records the activities in and of the Barony.  The Middle Kingdom Chroniclers' Handbook states in its introduction that "The title chronicler was chosen deliberately for the reason that we are recording precise snapshots in time of what the SCA is.  We, as chroniclers, are the keepers of the history of the Middle Kingdom and the SCA.  It is our privilege to put parts of this history in a permanent form."  --THL Rijckaert vanUtrecht, Middle Kingdom Chronicler, 2013.

To this end the Chronicler produces The Citadel, the official newsletter of the Barony of Cynnabar.  The Citadel publishes quarterly with issues released April 1, July 1, October 1, and January 1.

Deadlines for inclusion by issue are

-- March 15 (Spring issue, published Apr 1, first issue of publication year);

-- June 15 (Summer/"Pennsic" issue, published Jul 1);

-- September 15 (Fall issue: post-Pennsic & pre-Grand Day of Tournaments, published Oct 1); and

-- December 15 (Winter/"Wassail" issue, published Jan 1, last issue of publication year).

Please note!  Designations "Pennsic," "Wassail," etc. are meant only as general suggestions of content for contributors.  Event Stewards are encouraged to submit an "event notice" for the issue preceding that event.  "Interim" issues may be published as needed and as volume of submissions permits.

Articles, book or movie reviews, creative works (poetry, songs, artwork, etc.) and news reports are always welcome!

For all interested in contributing: Please fill out the appropriate Grant of Use form for your submission.

The Chronicler also oversees the collection of SCA, Inc. mandated release forms for photographs, photographic modeling, and creative works where such permissions are necessary for publication (in print or electronic format) of such creative/artistic works per existing copyright laws.

For a Creative Work such as poetry, fiction, artwork, etc.:

For photographs you've taken:

If the photograph you've taken has personally-identifiable figures each person who is identifiable must submit a Photographic Model Release Form:

Note:  It is *recommended* that you DO NOT CHOOSE Option #1, "Full Assignment of Copyright."  Instead, please choose "publish the Work in any SCA publication, including print, web and electronically."

"Official" letters or reports (from Officers, meeting minutes, and equivalents) are exempt from Grant of Use requirements per SCA, Inc. policies.
